Todd Durkin has been called the Tony Robbins of the fitness industry. Wow!
And “wow” just happens to be in the title of his second book, The Wow Book. (The first was The Impact Body Plan.)
Before you go thinking Durkin doesn’t know fitness, think again.
He recently took second place on NBC’s hit show STRONG. His gym, Fitness Quest 10, has been ranked one of the 10 Best in the Country by Men’s Health. He also won IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year in 2004 and ACE Personal Trainer of the Year in 2005. Both very prestigious awards.
Todd has also trained thousands of professional athletes including Ladainian Tomlinson, Drew Brees, Darren Sproles and Charles Tillman.
His rare combination of fitness expertise and mindset is the reason he continues to flourish in the fitness industry.
I read The Wow Book in two days and plan to gift it to at least 10 friends and family members.
I mean why keep something so valuable to yourself? I love sharing, inspiring, and creating impact in other people’s lives – just like Todd.
The Wow Book has 52 chapters that are nothing less than golden nuggets of wisdom, motivation and inspiration. It’s hard to believe that a fitness coach can be so warm, compassionate, caring, giving and SMART.
I don’t think most people would describe the average fitness coach this way, but obviously Durkin is not your average coach.
My favorite story in The Wow Book is about the work ethic of soon-to-be hall of fame football player, LaDainian Tomlinson.
The first professional player Durkin ever trained, Tomlinson started training with Todd in the early 2003. Just one day after his season ended. One day. Wow!
Durkin said LaDainian never missed a day of training. Never showed up late for training. And never questioned his programming.
This not only a compliment to Tomlinson, but also to his trainer.
Not only does Durkin motivate Hall-of-Fame caliber pro-athletes, he has also done a masterful job with his family.
His wife, Melanie, inspired the writing of the book and also wrote the foreword. She is an integral part of Todd’s legacy.
His oldest son, Luke, thirteen years of age now, stopped eating candy and drinking soda for an entire year! He was only eleven years of age at the time. I don’t know many adults who can do that.
Youngest son, Brady, ten years of age now, read all seven Harry Potter books in 8 weeks or less at the age of 8! Keep in mind that four of the seven books were between 652 and 870 pages. Wow!
I think you’re beginning to understand the Tony Robbins comparison.
The last thing I’ll mention about this incredible man and book is Durkin’s willingness to be vulnerable.
His parents divorced at the tender age of five. His father’s heart attack. The daddy/daughter dance with five-year-old McKenna. Chapter 29, which is fully devoted to his mom. All of these stories demonstrate Durkin’s willingness to be transparent.
Each of these stories were truly heartfelt.
So don’t waste any more time. Go out and purchase WOW today.
“Remember that life is very precious and TIME is the most important asset we all have. Be sure to use it wisely…. It’s WHO you become that’s most important.” (Todd Durkin’s dad)
